Meet Michael Calienes.
Michael moderates a lively discussion every Friday at noon at the “The Conversation Factory”, here in Tallahassee. Our conversations usually center around a topic in social media, and participating in this relatively new medium.
This week’s topic is going to be interesting. I’ll quote Michael’s invite e-mail to explain:
Last week, there was a coordinated "attack" on the Nestle Brand. Here's one story. Unfortunately for Nestle, their knee-jerk facebook page moderator forgot an unwritten rule of Social Media: The more you try to control your audience, the more you lose control.
Just have a look at their facebook page.
Let's chat about what happened, and what else could have been done from Nestle's perspective. It's a deep conversation that even includes deforestation, orangutans, and baby milk scams.
If you live in the Tallahassee area, and you have an interest in social media, I invite you to contact Michael about joining the invite list for Conversation Fridays. It’s always great conversation with interesting people, and I always learn something new.
Michael may be reached through his website, or through his Twitter account.
Update
In case you are interested in the Nestle vs. Greenpeace story, there is a great rundown here at Brandbuilder.
Darren Allen leads a very talented group of designers, as they create compelling interactive design for our customers. Darren loves the space where great design and business strategy meet. Where our customers enjoy greater success because the message, the branding, and the online strategy are all working together with clarity and focus. When he isn't pushing pixels, or helping with an online marketing campaign, Darren enjoys cycling, running and kayaking in and around the great outdoor spaces of Florida, or spending time with his super-cool family.
